Gavin is currently competing in the 2010 Sasol SA Rally Championship in a Volkswagen Polo.
In 2009 Gavin raced in a new endurance series created by Le Mans organiser the ACO and the Oreca team. Formula Le Mans will use an LMP2-derived open prototype, built by Oreca at Le Mans and fitted with a 420bhp V8 engine.
The 14-round series took place over seven meetings this season, five of which will be at Le Mans Series' events. Each race was an hour long with an obligatory driver change. The aim was to attract young drivers into racing prototypes and to give them experience of the cars before they enter the Le Mans 24 Hours.
South African Gavin Cronje and co-driver Belgian Nico Verdonck clinched the 2009 Formula Le Mans Cup Championship.
